Cattle Ranch

  • Owners include father, mother and brothers Dean and Kardy.
  • 35 years of raising purebred/full blood and award winning Blonde d’ Aquitaine cattle.
  • Currently raising a small herd of Braunvieh cattle.
  • Naturally New Mexico Meats are offered at every meal. Naturally New Mexico is the name of the family processing plant which produces the best lamb & beef in Northern New Mexico.
  • We at D-Duck ranch raise and train our own Quarter horses.

Every fall duties are to gather cattle out of the high mountains of Canjilon, NM using the traditional vaquero techniques. High altitude natural calves are weaned and sold private treaty or livestock auctions in Colorado or Eastern NM. Fences are dropped because of the high snow levels and mama cows are trailed down 18 miles to the scenic town of El Rito, NM. Our winter range comprises of native grasses and rolling hills of piñon and juniper trees. Calving begins in April and May. All natural grass and alfalfa hay is raised and fed on our ranch.

We are currently working on sharing all of this with the general public for reasonable fees. Call today for daily, weekend and weekly prices. We believe in preserving our Vaquero/Cowboy way of life and especially our Spanish heritage. This includes native NM foods and meats with the highest possible standards.

Stop by anytime for a cup of hot coffee at D-Duck ranch, where the conversation is usually cows, horses and hunting. Hasta la vista amigos!
